Changing Account Email & Sign-in Methods

Use these settings to update an existing Chastify account. Your Chastify email address and your sign-in method are separate: changing the email does not switch the connected Google or Apple account, and adding a passkey does not automatically remove your password or provider sign-in.

Keep access to your current sign-in method and any MFA authenticator or backup codes until the change is complete. Finish one change before starting another; switching sign-in methods can invalidate pending email or password confirmation links.

Choose the Change You Need

ChangeWhere to start
Change the address used for Chastify account emailsSettings → Account → Change Email.
Switch a password or Apple account to GoogleSettings → Security → Sign in with Google.
Switch a password account to AppleSettings → Security → Sign in with Apple.
Switch a Google or Apple account to a passwordSettings → Security → Switch to Password Login.
Add a passkey, switch to passkey-only, or leave passkey-only sign-inSettings → Security → Passkeys.

Use the options offered for your current account. Starting Google or Apple sign-in from the login page does not automatically convert an existing account. For a new account instead, see Create Your Account.

Change Your Account Email

  1. Open Settings → Account → Change Email.
  2. Enter a permanent new address that you control. It must differ from your current address and must not already belong to another Chastify account.
  3. Complete the verification shown for your current sign-in method.
  4. Follow the Check your email instructions. Some accounts need approval at the current address before a second email goes to the new address.
  5. Open the final confirmation link at the new address, then check the updated email in Settings.
Current sign-in methodVerification before the new-address confirmation
PasswordEnter the current password, plus an authenticator or unused backup code if MFA is enabled.
Google or Apple, with Chastify MFAEnter an authenticator or unused backup code.
Google or Apple, without Chastify MFAApprove the first link at your current Chastify email address. Then confirm the second link at the new address.
Passkey-onlyVerify with a passkey and complete any MFA or email-security-code prompt shown.

Each email-change link expires after 30 minutes. In the two-email flow, confirming the current address starts a new 30-minute confirmation period for the new address. Email change approved means the first step succeeded; wait for Email changed after confirming the new address.

Submitting the form or closing it with Done does not complete the change. Your current email remains active until the final confirmation succeeds. Chastify also attempts to send a notice to the old address afterward.

This changes the Chastify account email, including the address used for password recovery. It keeps the existing password or connected provider, registered passkeys, MFA, and current account sessions. If you use Google or Apple, continue choosing the same connected provider account even if its email differs from your new Chastify email.

Switch to Google Sign-In

Google's verified email must match your current Chastify account email. If you want to use a different address, complete the account-email change first, then reopen the Google migration screen. A Google account already connected to a different Chastify account cannot be used to merge the accounts.

  1. Open Sign in with Google in Security settings. For a passkey-only account, open Passkeys → Switch to Google Sign-In instead.
  2. Verify the current sign-in method: enter your password and MFA code if enabled; verify the connected Apple account; or verify your passkey and any additional prompts.
  3. Choose Continue with Google and select the matching Google account. An Apple account may require Continue with Apple first; in the mobile flow, follow both provider prompts.
  4. Wait for Chastify to finish and return you to the app.

The switch removes the previous password or Apple sign-in. Existing registered passkeys and Chastify MFA remain available. Old account sessions are revoked, and Chastify creates a new session for the browser or app completing the switch. Your Chastify account email stays the same.

Switch to Apple Sign-In

This option is available from a password account, or from Passkeys → Switch to Apple Sign-In on a passkey-only account. There is no direct Google-to-Apple option in Security settings; a Google account can first switch to password sign-in and then use the Apple flow. Read the security reset warning before taking that intermediate step.

  1. Open Sign in with Apple in Security settings, or the Apple option on the Passkeys page.
  2. Enter your current password and MFA code if enabled, or verify your passkey and complete its additional prompts.
  3. Choose Continue with Apple and authenticate with the Apple account you want to connect.
  4. Complete Apple's flow and return to Chastify.

Apple's email may differ from your Chastify email, including when Hide My Email is used. The Apple account cannot already belong to another Chastify user. Your Chastify account email stays unchanged.

The switch removes the current password, keeps registered passkeys and MFA, revokes old account sessions, and signs you in with a new session on the completing browser or app.

Switch from Google or Apple to a Password

  1. Open Settings → Security → Switch to Password Login.
  2. Enter and confirm a new password of 8–128 characters.
  3. Verify with the same Google or Apple account currently connected to Chastify. On the web, Apple verification may happen before the password form; Google users complete the change with the Google button. Follow Verify and switch where it is shown.
  4. Wait for the switch to finish, then review Security settings.
Re-enable security after this switch

Switching from Google or Apple to password sign-in disables Chastify MFA and clears its backup codes. If Enhanced Login Security was enabled, it is disabled and its trusted-device list is cleared. Set up MFA again, save the replacement backup codes, and re-enable Enhanced Login Security if you want to use it.

The previous provider stops working for sign-in. Registered passkeys are kept, and the Chastify email remains unchanged. Old account sessions are revoked; the completing browser or app receives a new signed-in session.

This flow verifies your connected provider rather than asking for a Chastify password you do not yet have. It is different from Change Password, which updates an existing password and requires an emailed confirmation, and from adding password sign-in to a passkey-only account.

Add or Change Passkey Sign-In

Open Settings → Security → Passkeys when the feature is available on your account and device. For full enrollment and recovery instructions, see Account Security & Passkeys.

  • Add a passkey keeps the existing password or Google/Apple sign-in. Verify that method, or an existing passkey, and complete any MFA or email verification requested.
  • Switch to passkey-only sign-in requires a registered passkey and verified email. It removes the password or connected provider, keeps MFA and Enhanced Login Security, and signs out other account sessions. The current session stays open. Saved-credential Biometric Login is disabled; use the passkey instead.
  • Add password sign-in on a passkey-only account lets you enter and confirm a password, then verify with a passkey and any required codes. It keeps registered passkeys, MFA, and Enhanced Login Security, and signs out other account sessions while keeping the current one.
  • Switch to Google Sign-In or Switch to Apple Sign-In on the Passkeys page follows the provider-specific steps above. Your registered passkeys are kept.

Before choosing passkey-only sign-in, check that your passkey works and consider adding a second passkey or security key. Keep access to your account email and MFA backup codes. Passkey-only recovery with MFA enabled requires both email verification and an authenticator or unused backup code.

Check the Result

After a successful change, return to Settings and check the account email, available sign-in method, passkey list, and MFA status. Review Security → Active Sessions for other signed-in devices. Revoking an account session does not finish or release a lock session.

Switching to Google or Apple keeps an existing Enhanced Login Security setting, but that setting does not add the password-login email-approval flow to provider sign-ins. Passkey sign-ins can still require its email security code. See Enhanced Login Security and Trusted Devices for the differences.

If the final response is interrupted, check the account's current settings before repeating the change. A completed switch may already have signed out your other devices even if the success screen did not appear.

Problems and Recovery

What you seeWhat to do
Email change approved, but the address is still oldOpen the final confirmation email sent to the new address. The first approval is not the completed change.
Email confirmation expired, already used, or delivery failedCheck the address and spam folder. Start a fresh change from Settings and use the newest confirmation links.
Email already in use or not permittedChoose another permanent address you control. Changing the email does not merge separate Chastify accounts.
Google email mismatch or wrong provider accountSelect the connected account for reauthentication. When switching to Google, its email must match the current Chastify email.
Verification expired or account settings changedReopen the flow from the current Settings page and verify again. Avoid making simultaneous email, password, or provider changes in different tabs.
Passkey controls missing or unsupportedUse a compatible browser or updated mobile app; passkeys must also be enabled for the account.

If you cannot sign in, use Recover Account Access. A Google account can use Chastify's email password-reset flow to switch to password sign-in; that reset also disables MFA and clears enabled Enhanced Login Security. Apple accounts use Apple recovery or another retained sign-in method. Passkey-only accounts use Recover passkey access.

If you cannot access the current email needed by the two-email confirmation flow, or cannot complete the required identity check, contact Support with the error and current sign-in method. Do not send passwords, MFA codes, or confirmation links.
