Calendar Events & Tasks

Use calendar events for personal records and future plans. In an eligible shared lock, a keyholder can also schedule events that assign a task to the wearer. An ordinary event, a reminder, and a task assignment are separate choices.

Once an event assigns work, use Tasks & Task Queue for its timer, deadline, completion, and consequences.

For tracked lock periods, statistics, and export, see Analytics and Calendar.

Create an event

  1. Open Lock Calendar, or open the calendar for the shared lock you want to manage.
  2. Open a day's event panel. On desktop you can right-click a day; on a phone, press and hold a day. Select an existing event to view it.
  3. Enter a title and, optionally, a description.
  4. Choose the date and whether the event is all-day or has start and end times. An end date can make it span more than one day.
  5. Leave Standard event selected or choose a custom event type.
  6. Review repeat, count, reminder, and any available assignment options, then save.

Check the time zone shown in the calendar. Shared-lock scheduling follows the wearer's calendar time zone, so a keyholder in another zone should not assume the entered time is their own local time.

Event types

Open Manage Event Types in the event panel to add or update named categories, including their color and icon. Your personal calendar allows five custom types in addition to the standard option. A shared lock has its own managed event types and limit.

A category organizes events; selecting one does not automatically assign a task or enable photo verification.

Repeat an event

Enable Repeat event to choose a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule. Set the interval, select weekdays for a weekly schedule, and add an end date if you want the series to stop.

For example, a weekly plan can repeat on selected weekdays rather than requiring a separate event for every date. Multi-day events keep their configured span for each occurrence.

Editing a series

Changing an event's schedule, title, or repeat settings changes the saved series. Deleting the event removes the series, not just the day you opened. Tracked completion progress for a recurring event belongs to the selected occurrence.

Counts and progress

A count records an amount for the event. Progress tracking instead gives the event a target and a Completed count, which you can update with the available controls.

These are calendar records. Completing the target does not by itself complete a separately assigned task or submit its required photo. Custom-event analytics use completed progress for progress-tracked entries, rather than treating an unfinished target as already completed activity.

Reminders

The event editor lets you enable a notification, choose how far in advance it is due, or remove it.

  • For a timed event, choose the lead time before the event starts.
  • For an all-day event, choose the day and local notification time.
  • Repeat settings allow reminders for future occurrences.

Reminders appear through Chastify's notification system, with push delivery where available. A reminder is not an alarm guaranteed to sound on an offline phone. Check the app's notification permission and delivery settings if a reminder does not appear.

A reminder whose scheduled time has already passed is not newly scheduled just because you save the event. Review the next occurrence or choose a future notification time.

Shared calendars and privacy

Two settings control different kinds of access:

SettingWhat it allows
Share personal calendar events with keyholdersCurrent keyholders can view personal titles, notes, schedules, and event types in the shared calendar. They cannot edit or delete those personal events.
Allow keyholders to add and manage shared calendar eventsCurrent keyholders can create, edit, and remove events made for an active shared lock. This does not give editing access to your personal events.

Review both in your profile/privacy settings. Sharing personal events is optional; creating a shared lock does not make all personal calendar details visible automatically.

A keyholder can also use Share with wearers on an event in their own calendar to show the plan to eligible wearers. The selected wearer needs an active shared-lock relationship and permission for keyholder calendar management. These synced plans disappear from the wearer's calendar when the relationship ends or that permission is withdrawn. They are not editable copies owned by each wearer.

Protected events

For a shared event, the keyholder can select Prevent wearer from editing or removing this event. A wearer can still update ordinary tracked progress when that control is available. Scheduled cage-check events have additional protection, so an event may remain read-only even when other events can be edited.

If edit or delete controls are missing, check who created the event, its sharing source, and its protection state.

Schedule a wearer task

The keyholder's shared-lock event editor offers Assign to wearer as a task when the lock's Tasks module is enabled and the keyholder has management access.

  1. Open the calendar for that active shared lock.
  2. Add an event with a title and schedule.
  3. Enable Assign to wearer as a task.
  4. Choose whether to Require photo verification. If required, choose Single photo or Before and after photos, and review Use community verification separately.
  5. Save and check the assignment state in the event.

Timed tasks are assigned at the event start time. All-day tasks are assigned at 08:00 in the wearer's time zone. A recurring event creates a new task for each scheduled occurrence, provided the lock and assignment remain eligible.

The task appears in the lock's Tasks module. Open it there to complete the work, submit any required photos, and check its deadline or review result. A calendar reminder alone does not create a task.

An assigned task keeps its own state

After a task has been assigned, changing the calendar event does not rewrite that active task's original schedule or verification settings. For recurring events, distinguish the existing task from future occurrences. Check the Tasks module when changing or canceling work already assigned.

Assignment depends on the shared lock remaining active, the assigning keyholder still having authority, and the Tasks module still being enabled. If those conditions change before the scheduled assignment, do not assume the task will still be created.

Cage checks

The keyholder event editor can separately offer Request a cage check. It schedules a verification request rather than an ordinary task. Review the instructions and deadline on the resulting request; an already-requested check keeps its original deadline when you edit the calendar event.

Troubleshooting

  • No task option: use the keyholder view of the shared lock and check the Tasks module and calendar-management permission.
  • Wrong scheduled time: check the calendar's time zone, all-day versus timed mode, and the repeat schedule.
  • A shared plan disappeared: check whether the lock ended or calendar-sharing permission changed.
  • An event cannot be edited: it may be a synced keyholder plan, protected event, or scheduled cage check.
  • A task did not appear: inspect the event's assignment status and confirm the lock, keyholder, and Tasks module are still eligible.
  • A task still exists after editing its event: manage the already-assigned task in the Tasks module; calendar edits do not rewind work already created.

For unresolved issues, contact Support with the event's date, time zone, whether it repeats, and the action or assignment that failed.
